T-Ball League - Thursdays - May 6 - June 10, 2021

This is a learning and recreational league. Participants will use T-stands to hit from and a soft rubber ball. All games are weather dependent and will be cancelled due to rain or wet conditions with no make ups. There are no practices. If your child is 6 years or older they would play Little League (See community sports leagues). We will be following the CDC and NYSDOH COVID guidelines.

Ages: 4 & 5 years - girls and boys 

Dates: Thursdays, May 6  - June 10, 2021 

Location:  Arnold Park, Andrews Rd. 

Time: Thursdays - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM all games

Cost: $35.00 Residents, $45.00 Non-Residents

Field Hockey League - FALL 2021 TBA

September  - October  
This is a recreational, instructional program where participants learn all phases of field hockey. Skills include: dribbling, passing, stick work, offensive and defensive moves and shooting. All players (grouped by age) meet twice weekly, Saturdays 10:00 AM - Noon and Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Wednesday sessions for skills, Saturday sessions for skills, scrimmage and mainly travel for games. This year most Saturdays we will be participating in a series of mini-tournaments with other field hockey programs and traveling locally. The tournaments run 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Vestal hosts one of these events.

Ages: 5 - 12 years (K - 6 grades)

Location: Vestal Middle School, S. Benita Blvd.

Cost: $40.00 residents, $50.00 non-residents

Add $30.00 - if you want a field hockey stick
Add $35.00 - if you want goggles

Registration Options:
1.  Complete registration form from menu on the left, use Activity # FHLE, and mail with fee to Recreation Department. Be sure to fill in your T-shirt size and your stick size (if you need a stick), if you want goggles and childs' grade.  OR

Goggles: Goggles are required for all 5th and 6th grade participants. (They are highly recommended for younger players, but not required) If you would like to order goggles through us, then add $35.00 to the program fee or you can get them on your own. One size fits all.

Stick size: The stick is a beginners' level stick. List the stick length and grade level (going into in the fall) on the registration form. Deadline for stick orders is Monday, August 26.

Stick length goes by girls height:
4' to 4'3" - 28" stick
4'4" to 4'6" - 32" stick
4'7" to 5' - 34" stick
5'1" to 5'3" - 35" stick
5'4" to 5'6" - 36" stick
5'7" to 5'8" - 37" stick
5'9" - 38" stick

Shirt size: The games we play against other youth programs are played in October. You may want to consider a t-shirt size large enough to wear over a sweatshirt.

Volunteer coaches needed to run this league. Coaches must be fun loving and have a sense of humor. No previous field hockey knowledge or experience required. We will teach you the basics at a pre-season clinic. Also, since all participants meet together, you'll always have experience to draw upon. There is no cost to be a coach and we provide a free T-shirt and loaner stick. To register as a volunteer coach fill out a registration form from the menu on the left. Include your T-shirt size.
